Weekly Recap: Aquariums, Target and House Hunting! 4

Weekly Recap: Aquariums, Target and House Hunting!

Did anyone else’s week zip by? One second it was Sunday evening and I was scheduling all my social media for my Spending Ban Update and then bam it was Thursday night. I haven’t gotten anything done this week. I had many an aspiration to get a lot of blog work done this week because I knew the weather was going to be crappy. And, none of it happened. I actually had quite the jam packed week! So, in old school style I thought i’d write up a nice weekly recap!

Weekly Recap: Aquariums, Target and House Hunting // Being Leanna

// Aquarium

I went to a new aquarium in my area and it was actually a lot of fun. I’m a big fan of aquariums, especially ones with jellyfish, so I was thrilled we got one near here. It was a bit small but it was perfect for families. The best part was that they had a huge area where you could pet the stingrays! I’m not sure if you’ve ever pet a stingray before but it’s the best. They’re like dogs. But they feel way cooler.

// In A Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware

I’ve been reading this for ages and I finally finished it! Everyone has been reading and recommending this and I loved The Woman in Cabin 10 so I thought i’d give this a go. Not a huge fan to be honest. The entire first half was pretty slow and uneventful. The ending didn’t have as big of a twist as I was expecting. It’s well written but you can tell it was her first novel. If you’re interested in suspenseful novels I suggest picking up The Woman in Cabin 10 instead.

Weekly Recap: Aquariums, Target and House Hunting // Being Leanna

// Target

Need I say more? I went to Target for the first time in 2017 this past weekend. You heard me right, the first time in 2017! As soon as my spending ban was officially over I grabbed my keys and headed straight to Target. I mostly grabbed necessities (shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste) but I also grabbed some things I’ve been dying to try. Keep your eyes peeled for a review of these two mascaras and the cult favorite Pixi glow tonic!

// House Hunting

Is still going pretty slowly. I want to be picky but not too picky so nothing out of this world amazing has shown up. I’ve gone and seen a handful of places but they all fall short somewhere. It’s starting to get a little discouraging but all the excitement i’m getting to be able to decorate my own place again is keeping my spirits high. If you’re interested in the house stuff I’ve been loving lately check out my Pinterest page!

Weekly Recap: Aquariums, Target and House Hunting // Being Leanna

// Sushi

I go back and forth with what my favorite type of food is all the time. The past few months though all I’ve wanted is sushi. I love it. I had a little girls night Tuesday after work and met up with a friend for dinner. No, that’s not all mine, just most of it haha. We went to an amazing sushi place in Albany (Kuma Ani) and I about died with excitement. I tend to try something different every time so I don’t have a favorite but i’d love to hear what yours is!

// 13 Reasons Why

Yes, i’m watching and yes i’m obsessed. I read this book way back when I was actually in high school and this story was relatable. I had to tune in and I started watching this week. I’m five episodes in and although dramatic and obviously centering around a depressing topic i’m loving it. Are you watching?

If you’re ever curious what else i’m up to be sure to follow along on Instagram and Twitter!

How was your week? What are you looking forward to the most this weekend? Let me know in the comments!

Oh good, all my friends are here

Greetings!

It has been a long week. I don’t know about you all but this week has dragged for me. I have been incredibly busy at work, working on one particular project that has been a headache and a half. So, I am especially grateful for a weekend away from my dual monitors.

On a happier note, I have a friend visiting me up at the lake this weekend. I’m incredibly excited to show her around to all of the best spots in town. But, because I’ve got a friend visiting and my eyeballs are tired from looking at spreadsheets all week i’m not sure what the blog will be like next week. I might be MIA. In consideration of that I’m writing up a super-duper edition of Friday 5! Which, surprisingly I haven’t written since the beginning of June, but I digress.

Grab a cup o’ tea and a snack and see what my favorites have been this week!

Blog Posts:

//Legal Questions You Need To Be Asking About Your Blog- Jade & Oak// I love Jackie’s blog and I especially love that she shares some of her legal knowledge with us to help create better blogs. This mini-series of her’s that she’s starting is going to be incredible. I’ve already bookmarked this post for a week night that I can fully dedicate to auditing my blog. A must read for any blogger.

//A Quick Guide to Houston, Texas- World of Wanderlust// So, I may or may not have mentioned that i’ll be doing a trip to Texas in October with a friend of mine. We plan on hitting Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas so this post all about what you can’t miss in Houston was perfect for me. World of Wanderlust is one of my favorite travel blogs and Brooke has amazing tips for just about anywhere. So, if Houston isn’t your thing, you should still check out her posts.

//The 5 Products I’m Obsessing Over This Week- Simply Stine// Okay, so it wouldn’t be a weekly roundup post of mine without mentioning one of Christine’s posts. I really trust her opinion on products and she always does amazing reviews. I can’t wait for more of her weekly roundups because I know i’ll find some amazing products.

Internet Finds:

//Nordstrom Sale// So, unless you live under a rock Nordstrom is having it’s annual sale and people are freaking out. I love reading about all of the hype and I especially love to see what people are picking up. I’ll be skipping the sale today but i’ll see if I can grab anything good come the end of the weekend. Let me know what you’re grabbing!

//17 Maps That Will Change The Way You Look At The World Forever- Buzzfeed// As a huge Buzzfeed and travel lover I found this fascinating. Now, I knew that Mercator map strongly skewed the actual sizes of countries but I’ve never seen them moved all around like this. I was very amused by this to say the least. Did ya’ll know that Algeria is the 10th largest country? I sure didn’t.

After reading Mary’s post over on Eat, Drink & Be Mary I scooted right on over to ROMWE.COM and placed an order. I cannot wait to show ya’ll what I got and it was all super inexpensive! I know the quality won’t be top notch but for the prices I paid i’m more than okay with that. Have you guys every shopped on ROMWE before?

Let’s do this.

Personal Favorites:

//Books//I just finished reading After You by Jojo Moyes and just before that I had read Me Before You. Guys, if you like cute, sappy, lovey books then these are for you. i loved them both so much and i’ll hopefully be heading to the library very soon to grab some more summer reads. I have so many on my list that I’m thinking about doing a whole book post. Would ya’ll like that?

//Exersise// I would not say i’m hardcore exercising by any means but I have been walking almost every day after work for a few weeks now and I’ve started to add in a bit of jogging as well. Baby steps.

Hope you all have an amazing weekend!!

Friday 5- Social Media, Cupcakes and Bathing Suits 7

Friday 5 // Being Leanna

HAPPY FRIDAY YA’LL!

Can you tell i’m excited for the weekend? It has been a lonnnnng week and I am more than ready to sit down and relax. I’ll be going up to the lake after work tonight and spending the weekend lounging around, catching up on blog work and reading all of your posts from today. I love reading Friday 5 posts because I always find so many new bloggers to read and I am pretty stoked to spend the day just reading post after post.

So, what are my 5 favorites from this week? I’m so glad you asked:

//Healthy Carrot Cake Cupcakes- Dash of Herbs

I cannot wait to make these cupcakes. The pictures were droolworthy and the recipe looks amazing. The best part? They’re not the worst thing in the world for you. I plan on making these for 4th of July this year but I might just have to make a couple sample sizes first just to verify that I like the recipe. :-] And, if cupcakes aren’t your thing, which, I mean, no judgement but -weirdo-, Kristyn has so many other fantastic recipes over on her blog so check her out!

//3 Swimsuits That Will Flatter A Pear Shape- Venus Trapped in Mars

Although I do not have a pear shaped body I LOVED this post. Sarah wrote all about how she’s not going to let her body image ruin her summer. We can all relate to that. Nobody feels great in a bathing suit and it took a lot of guts to put her bikini body on the interwebs. I commend her for that, and those bathing suits were pretty amazing too. One of the things I love so much about Sarah’s blog? The seamless way she does sponsored posts. They are always relevant and never seem forced. This bathing suit post was all about feeling great in your own skin and it just so happened to feature a company she was collaborating with. That is #bloggergoals right there.

//Best Time To Visit Iceland- Life With A View

I may or may not have mentioned how much i’m dying to go to Iceland (I even have a secret Pinterest board dedicated to Iceland) but if you guys know anything about me it’s how indecisive I can be. I cannot decide if I want to see Iceland in the winter or summer and Jeannie has laid out the pros and cons of every season! So, if you have any interest in seeing Iceland (which you totally should) check out this post to decide when the best time to go for you is!

//It’s Not Okay- Bourbon, Lipstick & Stilettos

Lindsay said everything I had been wanting to say about this topic. I’m sure you’ve read the heartfelt letter of the woman who was sexually assaulted by the Stanford student who ONLY received a sentence of 6 months. After reading her letter I wanted to write a post about the topic but just couldn’t find the words to describe how I felt. Even still I’m in shock at how with each new assault story that comes out the woman always is somehow to blame. It’s unbelievable. I’m just going to leave it at that because i’ll start to get angry but please, go read Lindsay’s post if you haven’t already and give a good look through the comments as well.

//Social Media Happy Hour- Jade & Oak

I attended Jackie’s webinar on Wednesday night and learned so much! I have been trying to up my social media game but really had no clue where to begin so I sat and watched her webinar and took generous notes and am feeling more than ready to start tackling social media. I never thought that I had the time to dedicate to really putting myself out there but Jackie showed us all how to schedule, plan and organize so that we can still enjoy some free time! While the webinar isn’t available anymore Jackie’s blog is chock full of great blogging advice. The best stuff though? She has so much advice for the disclosures, privacy statements, terms and conditions and all that important stuff your blog SHOULD have.

What are your “Friday 5” posts from this week?

Friday 5 // Being Leanna

Happy Friday!

I hope you all had a fantastic week and are ready to slow down and enjoy the weekend! It’s Mother’s Day on Sunday so i’m sure i’ll be occupied with festivities. In addition to it being Mother’s Day weekend, in Albany, NY it’s Tulip Fest! I can’t wait to get out Saturday morning to go get some pictures of the tulips before the crowds get too big. What are you plans for the weekend?

So in keeping up with Friday tradition, i’m sharing what I loved this week, starting with….

// Last-Minute Mother’s Day Gift Ideas- Coming Up Roses

Erica shows off some great, last minute gifts you can get your momma for Mother’s day. Or, any day of the year! I love the variety of gifts she showcases because everyone’s mom is different. While i’m getting my mom a grill this year, I’d gladly get her any of these other ideas. Plus, you can always keep them in mind for your mom’s birthday or for any lady in your life really.

Been playing with this the last couple weeks. Are you a fan? #lightscameralashes #tarte

//Canvas Classics in Ash- Toms Shoes

Man oh man do I love my Tom’s shoes. I’ve been buying these for years and will continue to buy them for years to come. They’re comfortable without being cumbersome. I’m a person who doesn’t like regular sneakers and these are the perfect substitute. My old pair had lasted me 3 or 4 years and while still fine to wear they have some pretty gross stains I can’t get out. So, I bought some new ones and I’m in love. Plus, for every pair you buy, a pair gets given to a child in need. Heart eye emojis everywhere. Are you guys fans of Toms?

// Lessons Learned From Being Published on Huffington Post- Love The Here And Now

Back when Anne shared her and her daughter’s post about anxiety I was really moved by it. As a sufferer of anxiety it’s hard to often put into words how you feel and Anne’s daughter did it perfectly. The best part of the post though was that Anne shared her thoughts and feelings on anxiety as the parent of a sufferer. I had honestly never considered how my anxiety affected those around me until I read that post. It sounds selfish, but when you’re having an episode it’s hard to think of anything but yourself and your condition.

Best way to start the day ☕ can’t wait to collect more of these @starbucks mugs 😁

// Small Business Week- Why And How To Support Small Business- My So Called Chaos

My very first job was at a small business and I loved it. Ever since starting to work there i’ve been a supporter of small businesses. It’s so important to keep local economies going, plus, they always have the best stuff! And, as Angie mentions, you’re supporting real people! They could be your friends, your neighbors, or bloggers you follow. I celebrated by ordering a t-shirt from Taylor over at The Daily Tay (I’m sure you all know and love her already). I’ve been meaning to for weeks but as soon as I heard it was small business week, I had to pull the trigger.

It’s gloomy, cold days like this when I miss #nmb the most #tbt #northmyrtlebeach 🌅

//Packing for Vacation!

I’m so ready to get on this vacation ready that i’ve started packing a bit. I’ve set aside some outfits and I’ve got all my sample sized makeup set out to toss in my makeup bag any second. I like to think i’ve gotten pretty good at packing, mainly because of my mild OCD and crazy list making skills. Check out my previous packing posts here, here and here. And please tweet me your best packing tips!

Friday 5 // Being Leanna

Hello and happy Friday!

Let me just start off saying that I love having a Monday through Friday job but dang, it’s weird not having a day off in the middle of the week to break things up. Definitely not complaining though because now I actually have the whole weekend off to play! Unfortunately here in upstate NY it is not weather to play in. It’s supposed to be freezing this weekend. The daffodils in my yard are blooming and they’re probably all going to die this weekend :-[ so please, cheer me up and share tons of pictures of your beautiful blooms on Insta this weekend!

Anyways, i’m here today sharing some of my favorite things from the week and i’m going to kick it off by sharing my own post from Monday just because I can :-]

I loved writing this post because I love sharing personal things with you guys. I think self care and self improvement are very important and a while ago I set out to work on my shyness. Monday I shared that story with you guys so go give it a read if you want to learn a bit more about me!

I am always all about Lindsay’s posts but this one especially. We all want to relate to our followers but we also want to have really pretty Instagram pictures. It’s a dilemma. Seeing picture after picture of your life that looks perfect can get super annoying so throw in some real life for me will ya! But also, don’t stop showing those perfect flat lays because I love them too. Hopefully i’ve got a good mix of “every day real life” and “this is totally staged but I want you to see this because it’s really pretty” pictures. Also, I don’t think any of that made sense because i’m super tired.

This linkup that Alex created is so fun! We’re all a bit awkward and it’s fun to share those weird moments with our internet friends. What’s more fun than having a good chuckle at yourself? Not much. If you aren’t reading Always, Al you really need to check her out, especially because she’s getting married this year and it’s so fun to keep up with her planning.

If you have a blog, you need to read this post all about terms and conditions. I don’t speak legalese at all and Jackie is great at explaining the legal side of blog stuff. She is a lawyer after all! Creating a terms and conditions for my blog has moved up to the top of my priority list this weekend. Do you guys have one for your pages?

//Double Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie Bowls- Jessica @ How Sweet It is
Yes, you read that right. chocolate and peanut butter smoothie bowl. I am obsessed with peanut butter. And I have yet to get on that smoothie bowl trend. But, as soon as Jessica mentioned that the texture reminds her of the inside of a peanut butter cup I was on board. Pinned this and wrote down the ingredients for the next time i’m at the grocery store.

Question(s) of the day! Do you guys have terms and conditions on your blog page?
Have you ever made a smoothie bowl? What were your thoughts?
